Apple iPhone Xs (Max) in the first practical test

Image result for iPhone XThe iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max are – simply put – drilled versions of the predecessor. They are building on the innovations of the iPhone X – Face ID Unlock, new gesture control, the hotly discussed Notch – and rely mainly on hardware improvements. These include the faster A12 processor and the improved camera. We already had the two new devices in our hands and describe our first impressions

There are no optical innovations in the new S generation, they look like the iPhone X – flashy Notch included. Updated Apple has only the inner workings: The main innovations include the faster A12 processor, the improved camera and the dual-SIM feature. The iPhone Xs is available as the predecessor model in the colors silver and gray Space, also new is the color gold.

The devices also have their price. For the entry-level model, the iPhone Xs with 64 GB of storage space, Apple requires € 1,149, and thus as much as before for the iPhone X. The model with 256 GB of storage space costs € 1,319, the 512-gigabyte model costs € 1,549. The iPhone Xs Max costs in the cheapest version 1,249 euros. The middle version with 256 GB of storage space costs 1,419 euros, the largest version with 512 GB of storage costs 1,649 euros.

iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max have been preordered since Friday, September 14, directly from Apple and the mobile providers Telekom, Vodafone and O2. The new iPhones were delivered from 21 September.

The new iPhone Xs models

The two iPhone X successors have – as known from the iPhone X – an almost frameless display without an iconic home button. The iPhone Xs is 5.8 inches tall, the size of the iPhone X. The iPhone Xs Max has a 6.5-inch display, making it Apple’s largest iPhone so far.

The workmanship is excellent, both models feel very good in the hand – even if the devices are not quite easy. The iPhone Xs Max weighs in at 208 grams. The transitions between display, stainless steel frame and glass back are just as supple as on the iPhone X. Overall, the interaction of glass and highly polished metal looks chic, but unfortunately also a real magnet for fingerprints.

iPhone Xs and Xs Max are waterproof as usual. In the new version they are certified to the IP68 standard and can withstand up to 30 minutes in two meters of water.
